A Little About Me
— Helena Lyne —

I have a busy life that I love, living in the beautiful southwest of Ireland as a mom of 3 boys, as a STEM educator and a wellbeing facilitator and researcher.

I once subscribed to the "always-on" mindset – endless to-do lists, early mornings and relentless striving, pushed by an inner voice that rarely whispered kindness. I was often tired, worried, and reactive.

These days, meditation, compassion, sea swims and connection are my antidotes to the pressures of a non-stop world.

I have a scientific mind, grounded in logic and reason, alongside a spirited heart, drawn to freedom and creativity - a blend that shapes how I experience and share life.

With a BSc. in Biochemistry, a Postgraduate Certificate in Mindfulness Practice and Research, and a MSc. in Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing, I’m fascinated by the intersection of science and well-being.

I offer content and courses on meditation, mindfulness and compassion - crafted to ease stress and worry and reawaken love and joy.

Proven Benefits of Mindfulness

"In a world that moves so fast, mindfulness practice helps us to slow down – we become less reactive, we soften stress and anxiety, nurture relationships and embrace creativity. We open our hearts and feel more present and alive to what is beautiful within and around us.“

Mindfulness, practiced for thousands of years in the East, is now backed by modern science for its proven benefits to well-being. This refers not to the quick-fix mindfulness offered by popular apps, but to evidence-based Mindfulness Intervention programmes led by accredited, qualified, and trauma-sensitive teachers.

— Why Meditate—

Many believe meditation is simply a tool for relaxation, but it is so much more than that. We call it our meditation “practice” because it is exactly that—a practice. Just like you might practice an instrument or a sport, meditation is a way to practice for the challenges of daily life.

  • During meditation, we spend time following our breath. This simple practice trains us to anchor ourselves when life gets stressful - we become less reactive.
  • While meditating, we practice staying steady with small irritations, like an itchy nose; or exploring bigger issues, like difficult emotions. This helps us become more skilled at responding to both minor annoyances and larger challenges in our daily lives.
  • During meditation, we practice letting go of harsh self-criticism and softening our inner dialogue—we carry this into our day, becoming kinder toward ourselves and others.
  • When we meditate in group mindfulness courses, we learn that our difficulties are not unique. Many others share the same struggles. We learn we are “normal”, we feel less alone.
  • During meditation, we tune into our senses. This translates into being more present with sensation in daily life, for example, appreciating birdsong or eating with more presence.
  • During meditation, we practice somatic awareness and we begin to recognise how our emotions and mental states show up physically in our bodies. This can help us to be more emotionally regulated when needed.

— Anyone Can Practice Mindfulness—

You don’t need to be a certain “type” to meditate—anyone can learn. It’s a common misconception that you must “empty your mind” or sit cross-legged to meditate. You don’t even need to feel calm or relaxed!

Also, mindfulness is much more than just meditation. You can be mindful during all aspects of everyday life.

With the right guidance, anyone can develop a meditation practice that works for them :)
